Tricks Fot Leaving Your Dog Home Alone





So you've just got a new puppy or you need some tips when it comes to leaving your dog home alone ?
  • First of all make sure your dog has been out on a long walk before hand and had their breakfast. Remember a good dog is a tired dog!
  • When you are about to leave do not make a fuss of your dog, and say goodbye. This can set of anxiety and make the build up to you leaving worse for your dog.
  • Make sure you have left plenty of things for your dog to do in your absence. Leave their favorite toys around. #KONGS are great boredom breakers for dogs if stuffed with their favorite treat ( most pet shops sell them just ask! ) Along with other chews to keep them busy for a while.
  • Leave comfort items for them such as a T-shirt with your natural scent on, or get into the routine of leaving the television on or radio for your dog so there is some background noise and routine for him.
  • If you're gone long periods of time you need to consider getting a reputable dog walker or dog sitter. No dog should have to suffer and be left alone for hours on end!
  • Depending on the size of your dog why not think about crateing him ? Dogs feel a lot suffer in smaller enclosed spaces and will benefit most dogs. It's also a lot suffer for them but you must take off the dogs collar whilst they are in there.
  • Make sure they are safe! - ensure your house or room is pet proofed, by ensuring there is nothing laying around that could injure your dog such as loose wires and cables. Also remove any valuable possessions which you don't want your dog to chew!
  • When you return again do not make a fuss, just be calm and only say hello to your dog once he has calmed down.
